GRAPPELLI & ELLA
| The 2026-27 concert season starts in just a couple of weeks. The team at Dunfermline Music have been working hard behind the scenes to source top quality acts to keep you entertained throughout the coming winter months. Our opening concert is on SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER, 3pm in the Viewfield Baptist Church, Dunfermline. And we're thrilled that one of our most popular performers - and one of Scotland's top musicians - Seonaid Aitken, is returning to our stage. But this time, in a slightly different format... Seonaid's new project is a tribute to not one but two giants of jazz and popular music - virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli and iconic singer Ella Fitzgerald. She has worked with top musicians all over the world to celebrate the legacy of her Gypsy Jazz violin hero Grappelli. And in her 'First Lady of Song' segment, Seonaid and her four-piece band will pay homage to some of Ella’s iconic recordings from her Songbook series such as ‘Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye’ and ‘How High The Moon’ and hit singles for Decca Records like ‘A Tisket A Tasket’ and ‘Dream A Little Dream’. We have plenty of other musical treats coming up - including the first ever public performance in Dunfermline (we think) of traditional Eastern European klezmer music. Add in a brass quintet, a string quartet, a wind ensemble and the return of Spanish/South American music specialists Troppos, and you get a concert season for all tastes. Head to our website https://dunfermlinemusic.org/ for all the dates, acts and ticketing information you need. Remember: buying a season ticket means you will enjoy all six concerts for the price of five. |
